Here we have a Romulus that we have been gradually improving but in truth the age and history of the boiler means you may struggle to get club certificate for its use. We have priced the loco accordingly.
We have steamed this loco three times in the past 18 months and it is a fun loco to drive with plenty of power. We can provide a short video of it running if required.
The loco was sold by a dealer just over ten years ago and has been used only a handful of times since then.
The pictures where taken when we bought the loco just over a year ago.
There is no paperwork with the boiler as this was lost after the purchase from the dealer.
The boiler is steel with copper tubes. With safety in mind it we would suggest having the boiler ultrasonically tested before use.
There is a water pump that works off of the motion and when the loco is moving this will replace roughly the same amount of water that the loco uses.
Work to date - since the photos were taken we have removed the cow catcher, large lamp and nameplates.
The pressure gauge that you can just see in the cab has been replaced with a gauge that is more to scale in size.
Two water connections, from Polly Engineering, have been fitted to the drawbar.
The water pump requires plumbing to the drawbar connector.
The water tank was quite rusty so this has been cleaned, painted externally with hammerite and painted internally with Isoflex.
We are working on a water filler cap and two 1/4" bsp stainless steel ball values have been to the tank fitted for the outlets.
The regulator works although it needs to be moved to the half way point before the steam passes through. This could do with being replacing by a new ball value.
