Here we have a 2 1/2" LNER A1 for restoration or just admiration. This loco has been sat in my living room for a while now as I have a window sill that is just the right length to accommodate it.
The loco was quickly painted by a previous owner and the A1 would benefit from a repaint or the addition of some lining if you just wanted to display the loco.
I did think about repainting the loco myself but there wouldnt be much point if someone wanted to restore her.
The strangest part of the repaint is that the loco wheels are green one side and black the other but I guess you could change the direction that the loco faced every now and then and have two colour schemes for the price of one.
Neither the loco nor the tender had springing on the wheels when they arrived. I have found some springs for the tender and I am fitting these when I get the odd moment. Without springing the loco wheels dont turn when you push it along but they do turn freely when the loco is turned upside down.
The loco would benefit from a new cab as the roof is very thin and is parting company with one of the cab sides. The tender decals look to be 3 1/2" in size so I have acquired some 2 1/2" letters and numbers which will come with the loco.
