This 5" Butch has been lovingly restored and comes with a Northern Federation boiler certificate valid untill August 2007. The loco is very nicely made. The valve gear is excellent and shows no sign of wear. The fluteing on the connecting rods shows just how much care the builder of this engine took. Butch is equipped with an axle pump and injector that both work very well and a hand pump that is a little tired and could probably do with replacing. There are a couple of nice touches on this loco that include the hornblock oiling points mounted on the front of the water tanks.
Regular visitors to the site will recognise it as a loco we sold prior to its restoration.
The new owner has reluctantly decided to sell Butch as he has just 'passed out' as a driver at his local Urmston Club in the Trafford area of Manchester.
As the club has a very, very, very long raised track (about 2,300 feet!!) the owner has decided to buy something a little bigger that will allow him to pull lots of passengers all day long!
The is an excellent little loco that will pull a handful of people quite happily.
Butch would make a great first engine or is ideal for those who want to be able to pick up an engine on their own.
Now there's not too many 5" locos you can say that about!
